Fr. Alex You Memorial School

In 2011, REF started Fr. Alex You Memorial School; a nursery and Primary school which provides quality and affordable education.

Raymond Vocational Sec School
​
In 2015, REF established a vocational Secondary School. From Senior one, a student does ordinary UNEB syllabus and adds an additional vocational subject in either Carpentry, tailoring, Agriculture, Building and Construction, or Hair Salon, leading to DIT Certificate which is attained after senior three.
Kworenga Technical Institute (Non Formal skilling)

REF has a non-formal skilling program. Any one irrespective of his or her level of education is admitted to do a skill of his/her choice. At the end of the course the student seats a Directorate of Industrial Training (DIT) examination. If successful, one gets a government certificate and starts working.
Adult Learning
​
REF has a two year program for adult learning. In the first year those who do not know how to read or write do a course in elementary numeracy and literacy. In the second year the students are joined by adults who can read and write to do a course in financial literacy and managing a business. At the end of the course those who pass get the school certificate.
Environmental Education
​
REF has established a center for food and environmental education. It has already put up a building with two class rooms, a dormitory for women and one for men, a dinning room, kitchen and toilets. In addition there is already a botanical garden with more than 60 different species of trees and shrubs, a more than square mile forest plantation with terminalia, eucalyptus, pine and other species. There is also a swamp and a dam with a number of fish types.
Reproductive Health

The mission of this program is to promote grass-root reproductive health focusing on menstrual hygiene using reusable sanitary towels. In particular the program sensitizes schools and communities about the use of reusable sanitary towels, makes affordable sanitary towels for use in schools and rural communities, and encourages menstrual hygiene among women in the grass-root community. This helps to reduce teenage school drop-outs and to avail affordable, environmental friendly and long lasting sanitary towels.
Mental Empowerment & Mindset Change

Mental empowerment and mindset change are integrated in all REF programs, depending on the nature of the group in the program. REF has a center where workshops on life skills and self-mental deprogramming and reprogramming are conducted.
Sponsorship
​
Raymond Empowerment Foundation offers sponsorship to students in the Nursery, Primary, Secondary and Vocational classes. The sponsorship offered includes full sponsorship for orphans and partial sponsorship for children on needy parents. There is a scholarship committee consisting of the Executive Director, Headteachers, Chairman PTA, Community representative and a religious leader which is responsible for the assessment of applicants.

A major activity of REF is publishing. The organization focuses on inspirational literature because it impacts on people’s lives faster than academic books. In relation with the philosophy of the organization most of the books published are mind renewal ones. However, other empowering books and literature are welcome.
